Lakes Nursery offers the largest section of Japanese maples in Northern California, with hundreds of varieties and thousands of maples. We grow over 200 different cultivars of Japanese maples! Our five acre nursery has been in business for over thirty years and is located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills at 8435 Crater Hill Road, Newcastle, California 95658. We have decades of experience with Japanese maples and can help you select the perfect specimen for your garden as well as offering advice in care, placement, planting, pruning, watering, and problems. We have several demonstration gardens on our grounds including a Japanese garden with a 28,000 gallon koi pond and are in the process of developing additional gardens.

We're open to the public EVERY DAY from 9-5, no appointment necessary.  We can be contacted via phone at (530) 885-1027.

We also stock over 50 varieties of bamboo, including both spreading and non-spreading varieties. We have mature groves on our acreage that we harvest and propagate and visitors are welcome to stroll through these groves. We can help you choose a bamboo for your garden and can offer advice on containment, placement, planting, watering, and care.

We  have garden art, pottery, benches, and other garden items, in additon to a wide variety of trees and shrubs for your garden and landscaping needs, including unusual specimens and unique varieties. We're plant enthusiasts and can assist you with your quest for that special variety that you saw, or offer advice on more utilitarian and basic gardening advice.
